Where to treat

• The main wiring harness where it passes through the firewall and the floor, at every rubber grommet.
• Overlapping belly-pan seams, drop edges and every exposed screw head along the underbelly.
• The top flange of both frame rails, plus crossmembers and the hitch or A-frame.
• Spring hangers, shackles and axle tubes, which is the ladder up from the tires.
• Slide-out support arms and the wall opening they pass through, with the slide retracted.
• Battery, propane and generator bay floors, and the cable entries into them.
• Fresh water, gray and black tank penetrations through the subfloor.
• Stabiliser jacks and the power cord where they touch the ground.

1·2·3 How to do it here

1. Park the rig where it will sit for the season, retract the slides and let everything dry.
2. Walk the underside first with a torch and note every opening, gap and grommet before opening the container.
3. Work front to back along the frame rails with a roller, then switch to a chip brush for the grommets, seams and bay perimeters.
4. Finish at the jacks, hitch and power cord, the last routes up from the ground.

✕ Watch out for

• Do not coat brake lines, ABS wiring or air-suspension lines where they flex or need inspection.
• Keep it off the slide-out gear rack, rollers and the sweep seal face that wipes the wall.
• Do not apply near the exhaust, generator muffler or anything that runs above 400°F.
• Do not treat a rig that already has an active nest until it has been cleared out.
